WESTHAVEN SAINT BERNARDS has relocated to Nevada (USA). I share my life with the dogs and feel they are my companions before they are show dogs. I believe that  to raise a well balanced Saint (mentally and physically) they must have plenty of room to exercise and lots of human contact. To this end, my dogs are indoor-outdoor dogs - spending their days romping in the play yards and their evenings with me cuddling.

Westhaven  has a litter about once a year.  I feel the only good reason to breed a litter is to produce a better Saint Bernard.  I  want to be able to devote the time, energy, and funds required to raising happy,  healthy Saintlets.

A LITLE HISTORY

Susan always wanted a Saint Bernard.  While growing up, her parents would not allow her to have a Saint but she always had pets of all kinds (dogs, cats, birds, fish, chipmunks, etc.)  In 1973, Susan was on her own as a professional dog groomer and purchased Max, her first Saint Bernard.  Max died in 1983 and Susan was ready to try her hand at showing.  She purchased  a puppy from Ivan Palmblad - Cache Retreat Kennels. Banner  finished  his championship by the time he was 2 - always owner/handled by Susan.  In 1985, Susan began handling for Cache Retreat and finished one or two dogs a year for the next 13 years.   Dealing with the wonderful Cache Retreat dogs and learning from Ivan (not only about Saint Bernards but about honesty and integrity)  was instrumental in establishing the Westhaven line. The first Saint champion to carry the Westhaven prefix was Ch. Westhaven's Let It Be, CGC, HF. Westhaven now has over 50 conformation champions.
Susan is also involved in therapy work. Many of her dogs have volunteered in hospitals, retirement homes, and schools.
